  • Q: Can your artwork be hung on every type of wall?
    A: The wall must be solid (like concrete) because the artwork weighs tens to even more than a hundred kilograms for Dowel Art® type DL54 and bigger. Also, the wall must be flat so that the frame hanger system can do its job.

  • Q: I have a Dowel Art® gift card, how can I redeem it?
    A: You can enter the Dowel Art® gift card number on the ‘request quote’ form.

  • Q: Do you ship internationally?
    A: Yes, we ship worldwide.

  • Q: What shipping methods do you support?
    A: It depends on the location the artwork must be shipped to. It can for example be FedEx, UPS or DHL. It is also possible to collect the artwork at our office yourself.

  • Q: What is the delivery time?
    A: The estimated delivery time is 5 working days per base plate from the moment we start working on the project. Our product is handmade and the creation process is very time consuming. Some examples: DL22 has a delivery time of about 2*2*5 = 20 working days. DP35 has a delivery time of about 3*5*5 = 75 working days.

  • Q: How can I pay for my order?
    A: After we receive your request for a quote and before we start working on the project we will inform you through email about our payment methods and the next steps involved, which includes a down payment. For now our payment options include wire transfer and PayPal.

  • Q: Can I see a sample of what my photo would look like converted into wood?
    A: Yes, you can. Go to ‘products’ in the menu and select a size and orientation and then press ‘order a free sample via email’ and you’ll receive a 3D photo (jpeg) of what your photo would look like as a Dowel Art® artwork.

  • Q: Can I see your products in real life?
    A: Yes, at our office we have some Dowel Art® projects hanging on the wall. You can visit us (first make an appointment with us via email) to see what our works looks like.

  • Q: Can an artwork be placed outside?
    A: No, it is made for indoor use only.

  • Q: Is it possible to order just the dowels and the baseplates?
    A: No. We don’t sell ‘do it yourself’ products.

  • Q: Why is your product more expensive than competing products (for instance photos on canvas)?
    A: Our artwork is made by hand. Cutting, deburring, dying and placing the dowels is very time consuming. Furthermore we are not looking for the cheapest material around because this would reduce the quality of our product.

  • Q: Is it possible to use other material than wood for the dowels?
    A: No. At this moment we offer wooden dowels only. Maybe we will be supporting plastic in future.

  • Q: What quality (as in resolution, sharpness) does the image that I want to convert into Dowel Art® need to have?
    A: As with anything, the more quality the better. However, technically, we use low resolution images. Every dowel represents a single pixel of your image. So an image of 800 x 600 pixels would be sufficient for all our Dowel Art® types. In the end the artwork only has about 4 or 5 dowels per inch for the 5 mm dowel size and 2 or 3 dowels per inch for the 9.5mm dowel size. So with the 5 mm dowel size every inch represents 4 or 5 pixels of your image (4 or 5 PPI).

  • Q: Is it possible to order an artwork without a frame?
    A: Yes. Some customers want to make their own frame or don’t like the frame options we offer.
